Dolores Eliche Quesada

University of Jaén Spain

Dolores Eliche Quesada is Professor of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Jaén. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Granada (2000) and a PhD from the University of Málaga (2004). In her postdoctoral stage she did a research stay at the Department of Industrial Chemistry and Materials of the University of Bologna and obtained a postdoctoral contract in the framework of the I3P project of the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC), developing her work at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry (CSIC) in Madrid. Her scientific activity has focused on Materials Science and Technology, on the improvement of conventional technologies to obtain environmentally friendly industrial products. In particular his research focuses on the development of new sustainable materials through the valorization of industrial waste and biomass for the construction sector by characterizing raw materials, determining the properties of ceramic materials and product innovation. His studies focus on the following topics: - Energy efficiency in industrial processing methods, involving low carbon footprint materials and waste reuse; - New hydraulic binder-type geopolymers and chemically activated inorganic materials; - Waste recycling for the production of new materials with catalytic applications. The research activity has been channeled through participation in numerous competitive research projects with public funding as well as research contracts with private companies. The results of this work have resulted in the publication of numerous scientific articles, book chapters, patents, PhD thesis direction, as well as contributions to national and international scientific congresses.

Scientific and technological development has led to the formulation of tailor-made materials, which have given rise to materials with new structural and industrial applications. This book aims to analyze the synthesis, characterization, and applications of ceramic materials. This includes an introduction to traditional and advanced ceramics, the use of traditional ceramic materials as ideal candidates for absorbing wastes, and the synthesis and characterization of advanced ceramics as nanoceramics, ytria ceramics, and electronic ceramics.
