Gérard Mourou
Gérard Albert Mourou is a French scientist known for his pioneering work in electrical engineering and lasers. In 2018, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics alongside Arthur Ashkin and Donna Strickland. Mourou and Strickland were recognised for the invention of chirped pulse amplification, a technique later used to create ultrashort-pulse, very high-intensity laser pulses.
